March 2017...From Georgia to The Deserts of Arizona....

Hello Blog watchers....
Yorkieman and I returned to the USA at the beginning of March and now back on the road and continuing our travels.....
After spending a great week with our dear friends in Georgia we flew on from Atlanta to Phoenix, Arizona to collect our home on wheels from storage and hit the road again...
Bill, Myra and us at the highest point in Georgia in North Georgia at Brasstown Bald, all part of the Appalachian & Blue Ridge Mountains....sadly it was a hazy day and my photos from the tower viewpoint did not come out well enough to include here....
Before heading west to Salome we spent a couple of weeks in the Phoenix area at Casa Grande stocking up the store cupboards, fridge and freezer and having some essential service work done to the trailer including replacing our ceiling fan and buying a new TV...our old one is now a visual aid in the exercise room as the DVD part still works !!!
The Brits will be remembered !!!
A rest area on the I-10 before he head across the desert to Salome...
Desert Vista RV Park and our home for the next 10 days....most of the snowbirds have started their trek north but we were able to meet up and spend time with various camping buddies....
A beautiful Arizonian sunset....the big sky here gave us great sightings of the International Space Station...
The desert flowers are stunning...we are benefitting from an unusual amount of rain here in January......
This is all part of the Harcuvar Mountains Wilderness....

Beautiful colour.....
ATV or RZR rides are the popular pastime here....there are hundreds of miles of ATV tracks in this area and we were lucky to be taken out on the trails by Carole and Wally...
Even the RZRs couldn't make it up through this canyon...although we were told that up to last year this canyon was filled with sand...
The desert lily....on average they last a week....
Our rides.....these machines go places we would not have thought possible !!!
Dusty but great fun...
Beautiful desert poppies...
They grow on what looks like the most inhospitable ground..
One of the many gold mines in this region....this one is privately owned but there are also commercial gold mines still in operation...
The cactus are also starting to flower....
It's usually the woodpeckers who nest in the giant Saguaro but this little chap has made a nice home !!
I have now cleaned my camera lens !!!!!

This thistle type plant looks very pretty but it will give you a rash and itch just like Poison Ivy....
A day out to Wickenburg approx 60 miles from Salome...Wickenburg's history is very much "cowboys"/horses and the Railroad...

Again a very pretty drive to Wickenburg along US60....
Dust storms can and do happen very suddenly as did this one on our return journey to Salome...
By the time we got home the storm had passed but we are headed for a few very windy days....like us several folks who were going to head out tomorrow have delayed their departure for a few days due to a big storm hitting the Las Vegas Valley area causing power outages and closure of the I-15....
An Arizona Desert traffic cop !!!
So much colour....
A Gila Monster,  seen on one of our many long walks into the desert...
It is the only venomous lizard in the desert and is a protected species...
A flowering hedgehog cactus...
We have had a great time catching up with camping buddies, meeting new ones, learning new card/board games and seeing the beauty of the desert but tomorrow we will move on 270 miles up to North Las Vegas....we have some errands to do but mainly need to check out storage facilities for our home on wheels for when we return to the UK in May....this time we plan to fly back from Las Vegas...
